Courtyard by Marriott Sacramento Midtown

We had a nice stay in this clean hotel. It’s conveniently close to Shriners Hospital and UC Davis Hospital/Campus, and the staff were polite and nice. The rooms were clean and quiet. The cafe serves Starbucks Coffee at the regular price, though the cafe and hotel store are both a bit pricey. If that bothers you, there are convenience stores, a grocery store, and several fast food places all around the area.

It may be a little older, but everything was in fine condition and the beds and pillows were really comfortable. The hotel is right next door to UC Davis medical Center, and walking around the campus in the morning made for a wonderful start after a good night’s sleep. Thank you!

The room was kind of dirty and the beds were only okay. I usually leave a tip because I’m sure the cleaning crew works hard, though they may not get enough time for a proper detail clean. We paid $25 a day to park in absurdly narrow spaces. People were using two spots, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they got charged $50. The parking was almost a side issue compared with everything else. We arrived a little after midnight after flight delays, hoping to use points to save money. They charged us for a late cancellation, so we had to pay full price and book the rooms again. Fine, but then it took three trips to the desk and another 20 minutes before we got keys that actually opened the door. We wanted an early night before a marathon, but quiet hours didn’t start until 10. There seemed to be a church revival under our room, with the same bass-heavy song, muffled yelling, and a full drum kit going on for hours. Someone nearby started pounding on a wall or floor, somehow louder than the revival, but the song kept going. I gave my earplugs to my partner, but the noise and vibration were still awful. The walls are paper thin and there are huge gaps under the doors, so sound carries everywhere. We asked for a refund and, predictably, didn’t get one. I should have paid more attention to the other reviews, especially the ones about cancer patients and their families. Somehow this place still has a four-star rating that people have to pay for. Don’t stay here unless you have no other option. It was the most money I’ve spent for a couple of really bad nights. This review may be winding down, unless it isn’t. Seriously, the power of Christ compels you to stay somewhere else besides this Holey Sacramento hotel. Stay blessed. And now, an overlong double bass drum roll. You’ve been amazing, Sacramento!

We barely used the room beyond the beds and bathroom. The beds were reasonably comfortable, and the place did what we needed for one night. We brought our own water after reading other reviews, since bottles there cost $5. Parking was $25 for the night. We arrived late, and even with two desk employees and no other guests, check-in took a few minutes. There were some dirty spots in the room, and the bathroom caulking had been spread messily everywhere. Checkout was quick when we left at 11 a.m.
