We booked the Governor's Inn through agoda just a couple of hours before arriving, and check-in was all ready for us. The front desk women were upbeat, professional, and funny, and the same friendly attitude carried through to the breakfast staff and maintenance crew. Our room was roomy, clean, and quiet enough to sleep well. The coffee maker, mini-fridge, decent Wi-Fi, and AC all came in handy in Sacramento's heat. The common spaces were tidy too, and checkout went smoothly. For food, there's a 24-hour McD's across the parking lot and a Denny's across the street. A good Mexican place is an easy walk away, and Old Sacramento's touristy restaurants are a short drive. We needed a last-minute stay in Sacramento with my wife and were very pleased with how it worked out. We'd recommend it.

Bessie made breakfast a highlight for us. She cooked our waffles, kept the food stocked for two straight hours, and was so enthusiastic and focused on the guests. Even if you don't want breakfast, stop in for coffee. Thanks, Bessie, for all your work and the lovely breakfast 🫶 The hotel also had clean rooms, friendly staff, included parking with plenty of spaces, and a handy location for places within about a 10-minute drive. Our room had a fridge and AC, and free breakfast was offered.

The room was a great surprise for the price, spacious and clean, with a really comfortable bed and hardly any noise. When we switched hotels at the last minute, the front desk already had our key ready as we walked in. The staff were welcoming and paid attention to what we needed, accommodating us throughout. One of the best places we've stayed. We'll definitely come back again and again.

The next morning we went to check out early, and the overnight front desk manager said maintenance had opened our first room just fine, so he insisted it was our fault. He tried to explain how the key card should turn the lock green, even though we'd already explained that it did turn green and the second room gave us no trouble. They kept blaming us, so we gave up and left. Terrible service, and I didn't feel the area was safe. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Earlier, we had barely parked, checked in, and started toward the elevator when a car alarm went off. We'd noticed several homeless people around, and less than five minutes after check-in we saw someone trying to break into our rental car. Then the door to our room barely opened even though the key card turned the lock green. We tried about ten times. We went downstairs and explained that it seemed someone was already inside, but they didn't explain what was happening and just gave us another room. That room's window was right beside the McDonald's drive-through, where we could hear orders being taken loudly through the night, disturbing our sleep.

We didn't feel safe in the parking area, with a McDonalds next door and homeless people around, many of them apparently on drugs. The lady at the front desk was rude from the start, and even while training a new employee she was rude to her right in front of us. We arrived on Memorial Day weekend after a long drive, hoping for an easy stay. Instead, our room wasn't as described. It was extremely noisy from the highway, which sounded like a racetrack at night, and cars seemed to rev their engines in a nearby tunnel. There was also a strange smell. When we complained, the desk offered to charge us to move rooms or give us a white noise machine. Having those machines on hand made it seem like this had come up before, and I'd never heard of paying to switch rooms. The woman kept giving us attitude, denied our stay, and left us without a refund. We felt scammed. She also questioned why we'd waited so long to report the issue after checking in. We'd only wanted to drop our bags and get dinner. I've never experienced such rude, unsupportive treatment.
