Hotel Med Park, an Ascend Collection Hotel

We stayed during Aftershock 2025. The outside looked clean and well kept, and the bathroom in room 404 seemed recently redone and looked nice. The first night, water wouldn't drain while I was showering. There's no barrier between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, so the water spread across the floor and into the carpeted room. I used all the towels to push it back and keep it in the shower. I told the manager the next morning. He was patient and polite, came up, and cleared the drain right away. The parking garage is extremely small, but he was accommodating about it. The next day he said housekeeping was washing all the towels, so there wouldn't be any until later. We left the do not disturb sign up while the four of us were out all day, and when we returned there still weren't towels. I asked at the lobby, and the manager took me to the laundry room and gave us the three towels they had. Having worked housekeeping at a resort, I wondered if the staff were struggling to keep up with the rooms and laundry. For around 30 rooms, I'd expect plenty of towels even if every room had checked out that day, though I don't know their circumstances. The manager was very helpful again. A few other things: there was dry trash in the cabinet by the fridge, dust under the living room TV, and no hand soap in the bathroom. None was a huge deal. I brought my own bar soap and broke some off for handwashing. I only saw two housekeepers, so if that's the whole team, they're doing well with the workload. The manager was great, and I'd stay here again if I return to Sacramento.

If you're in town for something connected to UC Davis, most hospital buildings are an easy walk from here. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with lots of pillows, and there was a free continental breakfast and a small fitness room. There's no pool. Turning into the underground garage can be tight, but once inside there's room to maneuver. I also liked that both the hotel entrance and garage doors require a room key around the clock. One tip: if you've parked in the garage at check-in, ring the doorbell by the elevator and the front desk can let you into the elevator. The lobby was warm, and the front desk was hard to find unless you rang the bell outside. During my visit it seemed like only one person was running things, and he napped when he could.

The parking was far too tight. I can't understand why they'd let a truck park at the entrance. Breakfast was disappointing too. I'm not sure what they count as continental, but there was no milk or water, and the waffle maker was out of order. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The food and room service were a real highlight, and I liked having the little downstairs area for snacks, ice, and drinks. My room was stylish and impressively done, with a king bed, a sofa, and two huge TVs.
