The linens were filthy, the room smelled bad, there was no WiFi, and the AC barely worked. My coworker found roaches in the bathroom at 1 am. The front desk clerk was rude, and the pool was closed for renovations “for the season.” One star feels too generous for this slum. Don’t stay here!

The bed was uncomfortable and felt much lower at the head than at the foot. The tub and fake hardwood floor were dirty, furniture was coming apart, and there was what looked like blood beneath the counter and on some walls. The curtain didn’t cover the bottom of the window, and the front desk guy wasn’t friendly. Worst Motel 6 ever!

Most windows look onto the courtyards, so you can’t keep an eye on your vehicle. At night, gangs swarmed the parking lots, and the single security guard seemed more concerned with families leaving their rooms with a beer than with the other problems. I saw what I thought were drug deals happening in the lot around the clock, and suspected the front desk knew about it. There were also people working as prostitutes all night. The desk staff were rude and completely unprofessional. You’d be better off paying more to stay somewhere else. This felt like a place where you could easily get ripped off.

The WiFi barely worked, and customer service was useless. When I called Motel 6’s corporate office, the person on the phone just said rates could change and hung up. I’ve filed a complaint with the BBB, and I won’t stay there again. My first room was okay, but the business practices were about on par with drug cartels. I was charged $319 a week at the corporate rate, then $359 for each of weeks two and three because of the state fair. After 21 days, they told me I had to leave for at least 24 hours, claiming it was state law. That’s bullshit. As I understand it, after 28 days they can no longer charge the extra out-of-state surcharges. I travel for work and have had other hotels lower my rates after 28 days, but Motel 6 was the exception. When I returned, they said I had no reservation, whether through lying or incompetence, and offered a room for $440 a week even with my corporate discount. I later saw a lower rate on expedia's website, so it felt like price gouging and fraud.

I spent four nights here without any problems. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff I met were wonderful, and the room was very clean and quiet. Seeing security guards around also made me feel safer.
