We travel a lot, but this was the most expensive room we’ve ever booked. The holiday weekend price made sense, but the room was advertised for four and really only slept two. My family stayed over Labor Day weekend, and the experience was rough. We tried contacting the hotel afterward and couldn’t even get a response. We’re not asking for anything unreasonable, just fair treatment. I’d appreciate it if management would get back to us.

The bartender was the one bright spot: professional, creative, friendly, and welcoming. Everything else left us disappointed, especially since this was our 10 yr anniversary. The food was just okay and too salty. A few menu items sounded creative, but nothing made us want to return. Our entrées arrived before the salad, then the sides came 5 minutes later. The pesto dressing was a terrible match for the salad, and the cheesecake is one to skip. The wine service was strange too. The waiter showed us the bottle label, took it away, then came back 5 minutes later with it opened and no cork. At a restaurant charging 10x the price of the wine, that felt odd. After dessert, our waiter vanished. We waited 40 minutes, then asked another server where he’d gone. They went to look and never came back. We found someone else in the bar area and asked for the bill and manager. Another 5 minutes passed before that server returned to say the manager was MIA. For a decently expensive restaurant where you expect to get what you pay for, the service was worse than fast food. The service was truly abysmal, the food average, and I’ll never return. I’d also considered staying at their Inn soon, but not now. This was the worst run establishment I’ve eaten at, even if that sounds extreme.

The short ribs were delicious, but the halibut was expensive and very mild in flavor. One duck order was so small that a child would still have been hungry afterward. The meal timing was a mess: three of our four dinners arrived about 40 minutes later, and the last showed up after the rest of us had finished. Drinks were slow too. It wasn’t busy, yet two of our three drinks took half an hour, and the last arrived 10 minutes after that. The place and its location are beautiful, but we won’t be back.

Sag Harbor was a favorite, with cute shops that didn’t feel touristy, and Barons Cove was a lovely base for exploring the Hamptons. East Hampton and Main Beach were about 20 minutes away, Montauk around 30. We stayed four nights in May and loved the big room, comfy bed, and TV. The hotel is incredibly charming. The lobby and bar-living room have gorgeous glossy black woodwork and a fireplace, while the upstairs restaurant looks out over the harbor. It feels traditional and chic at the same time. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, especially Christine at the front desk. We ate several meals at the restaurant and each was delicious. We also had a great time at the American Hotel, and Nick and Toni's was great too. We loved our stay and can’t wait to return.

The Inn and its location are beautiful, but I won’t spend my money there again. We went for Easter Sunday breakfast with our family of 6. The Easter bunny and egg hunt made it an easy holiday choice, though we should have known better than to eat out on a holiday. They seated us on the outdoor porch and assured us it wouldn’t be cold, but it was. Four meals needed butter and syrup, and we got one pat of butter for the table and a tiny salad dressing sized serving of maple syrup. We waited well into the meal for more, but by then the food was cold and the butter wouldn’t melt. The “bunny” also seemed to have something else on his/her mind and showed no interest in my grand babies. My grand daughter was served chocolate milk with ice. It was a terrible experience, and no matter how pretty the Inn is, never again.
