Home2 Suites by Hilton Salem

I was really impressed by how clean everything was and how professional the staff were. The rooms feel upscale, almost like luxury quality. I'd highly recommend booking here again in the future.

The walls were surprisingly thin. My family next door could hear me speaking quietly on the phone, even though they couldn't make out what I was saying. That's unusual for a quality hotel. The hall carpets also looked stained and dirty, though it was pouring rain outside and I don't know how much had been tracked in before they could clean. There were no bad odors. I've stayed at Hilton properties often as a longtime HHonors member, and this was my first overnight in Salem after living not far away for more than 30 years. We were in town visiting and had a nearby wedding. Like my previous Home2Suites stays, both rooms were spotless, with very clean, comfortable beds and well-stocked mini-kitchens. The dishware and silverware were decent, and the cooking pot and pan were nice, not the junk pans you get in some places. Service was friendly and efficient from check-in to checkout. When we arrived, a team member was spot-cleaning even tiny marks on the room doors. The hotel looked surprisingly new and is eco-friendly, with built-in phone chargers, older Type A, but handy. The sheets were soft and comfortable, but too narrow for the queen- and king-size comforters. Since hotels often wash the sheets and wavy covers but not the comforters between guests, the sheets should fully cover them. With these, the comforter could be exposed where guests might touch it between washings. That was a minor issue, but if we stayed more than one night, we'd have asked for freshly laundered comforters rather than trying to keep the smaller top sheets in place for cleanliness. Even so, we'd definitely stay again without hesitation.

Violet gave us great customer service, and we enjoyed the indoor pool and spa. We had such a good time that we extended our stay. We'll definitely be back.

The place is clean and quiet, with a pool, fitness area, laundry, and free breakfast. What really stands out is the staff, who are attentive and quick to respond.
