Motel 6 Salem, OR

We felt unsafe and unclean, so we left for another hotel. We'd somehow booked a smoking room without realizing it, and there were no other rooms available. When we went to check whether the smell was bearable, we saw a homeless person asleep in the parking lot outside the room. Inside, there were lots of flies, graffiti on the walls, and a big hole in the bathroom ceiling where the fan should have been. Since we hadn't complained within 10 minutes of checking in, we had to pay for the first night. After talking to a manager, we did get a 20% discount. Their tagline, "Clean, comfortable rooms and great experiences," is a joke.

Haven't stayed here in a long time, and it was way better than I remembered. A woman on staff was amazing and got me and my tired dog into our room fast. It was impressively clean inside, and the bathroom was spotless. The office and lot were clean, too. People put this motel 6 down a lot, but you get what you pay for. I love it and would come back without a problem, maybe for a few days next month. The TV was just the right size, the parking lot is big, and the bed was one of the best I've slept in for a long time. They have a smoking room, which is great these days. My dog potbrownie fell asleep right away. I posted the Pic here for you all to enjoy. Stop in, they'll leave a light on for you, and they really will.

The reservation started badly: we called and were quoted one price, then arrived to find it had gone up. The receptionist said the person who gave us the quote "lied." The room had a hole in the wall and was noisy, and I found hair in the shower, so it hadn't been cleaned well. For two people, the shower supplies were just one bar of soap. When my friend asked for shampoo, they said it cost extra. There was no fridge, microwave, or coffee maker, and I had to throw out some food I'd brought. I feel like we got scammed. This was the worst experience I've ever had.

Jose made check-in easy and was super nice. The room was good for the price and the sheets were clean. Thanks for leaving the light on for us, Jose, and for covering for Tom Bodette! Lisa at the desk was just as sweet when we checked out, and it was nice to see a smiling face in the morning. This wasn't the best Motel 6 I've stayed at, but the front desk staff made the visit. Jose and Lisa, y'all rock!
