The Lodge at Poncha Springs

The bed was comfortable and the place has a cute, quaint feel. Check-in was very friendly. The room is small, though, and the blue lights outside shine brightly into it even if they look cute from outdoors. The walls are also very thin, so how well you sleep depends a lot on whether other guests are considerate.

Jimmy and Dawn are terrific, kind people putting a lot of work into restoring a sweet roadside chalet. The place feels warm and charming, a welcome change from impersonal modern hotels. We spent a lovely evening by the firepit on the magical patio. It's a great spot in summer too, and I can't wait to return.

Jimmy, one of the innkeepers, was kind and welcoming when he checked me in. He also showed me nearby places to eat and shop for groceries. Restaurants and a gas station are about a two-minute walk away, and the grocery store is roughly seven minutes on foot. He's very personable and knows a lot, so treat him well. Thanks to everyone at The Lodge for making my stay possible. I hope to come back. The views from The Lodge were amazing, with The Collegiates and other mountains nearby. I got up early for sunrise and stayed outside in the cold to take in the sunset. There was a firepit with seating for a group, and the place is 420 friendly. It's an affordable, cozy stay near Monarch Mountain, about 15 minutes from the slopes. The Lodge at Poncha Springs has basic amenities, hot water, and cozy rooms, with quick access to restaurants serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My room had a few small windows that opened for fresh air and an electric heater I could adjust. The walls are thin, and it's near a busy road known as "the crossroads of the rockies," so light sleepers may want earplugs.

I loved my first stay here and will definitely come back. The room was cozy, clean, and spacious, with parking right by the door. The owner was very friendly and shared helpful information and recommendations about town and the area. It's also very convenient for Monarch Mountain.
