La Quinta Inn & Suites Salina

The room was clean, quiet, and great, and the full breakfast was the best we had on our three-week trip. We ended up at LaQuinta after a long drive when the motel I'd booked four days earlier said the reservation had somehow been canceled the day before we arrived. LaQuinta was across the street, and since it's part of the Wyndham family, we gave it a try. The desk clerk was really helpful and got us checked in quickly. I'd recommend staying here and would come back if I'm in the area.

Breakfast was nice, and I liked the location and the staff. But suite 309 smelled overwhelmingly like sewage when I arrived, apparently coming from the pipes. I left the windows open all night and borrowed Febreeze from the front desk. That made it bearable.

We've stayed here on a tight budget for much of the last six years because safety and cleanliness matter to us too. The last two visits were barely acceptable: a broken TV and toilet, plus rooms that weren't as clean as they used to be. The property has fallen into disrepair, with mold in the bathrooms, worn furniture and fixtures, and outlets that won't hold a plug. We'll look for another hotel in the area that fits our budget.

There was meth in a drawer in our room, and an empty vodka bottle in the pull-out sofa. The elevator smelled awful too. The front desk person couldn't be bothered to get sheets from the laundry, so my daughter had to sleep with just a blanket.
