Salisbury and Twin Lakes have a graceful, charming feel, and the town and its people brought back a sense of earlier days. You can walk between the library, private pharmacy, grocery store and other places. The grocery store felt healthy and fresh, with an integrated style, smaller and warmer than Wholefoods, and a relaxed, Californian kind of vibe. The inn's upstairs rooms are lovely, with country, colonial and somewhat Victorian antique decor. Downstairs, the food is delightful and service is top notch. People are friendly, from the staff to the locals who come into the restaurant and bar, greet each other with smiles, and chat about the day or what happened lately. With its large stone hearth and roaring fire, tables, and a cute wooden nook bench with a big table by the fire, the bar feels cheerful and homey. They made me feel like a local, with no awkward silences. It's also a wonderful quintessential inn with a restaurant and bar. In the area are hiking trails up the mountains, ravines, waterfalls and swimming holes tucked among huge rocks, boulders and mounts. Tall trees, falling water and brooks running through the forest make it beautiful. Mount Regis/Falls, and farms and pastures where animals can roam, are part of what makes this the best place to be in CT. I hope those farms are still there.

The room was beautiful, and the food was excellent. I had a summer squash dinner that couldn't have been better. The squash taco at Taco Tuesday was delicious too, so don't miss it if you're around that day. Breakfasts were included and excellent. I wanted to share photos of the squash entree because it was plated so artistically, but I didn't have a posting option.

I was there for an event celebrating a local's amazon series premiere, and the restaurant made the evening a great one. We needed an accessible place with good food, and White Hart delivered. We had a private room where several wheelchair users could get around easily, with plenty of space to move without bumping into people and tables at a good height. Accessible bathrooms were on the same level. We had a wonderful time, and I'm still thinking about those rolls! I only ate at the restaurant this time, but I already want to stay overnight on my next visit. I'd suggest adding accessibility details to the website. I had trouble finding that information, though it's possible I missed it. Hope to see you again soon.

The people are what make The White Hart so special. We were treated so well from our first visit, with a kind of hospitality we didn't find at the many larger venues we considered. Emma, our wedding coordinator, was amazing from our first meeting through the wedding day. Ryan helped us put together a delicious drink menu and was an exceptional bartender. Desiree was the MVP on the wedding morning, making sure everyone had what they needed while getting ready. The next morning, the whole staff kept congratulating us and made us feel special. We got married at The White Hart at the end of February 2025 and couldn't recommend it more as a venue. We'd give it 10 stars if we could. The inn has wonderful charm, delicious food, and the best drinks we've ever had. We're grateful our special day was there and look forward to visiting on our anniversary for years to come.
