Pearl on the Concho

I booked two spacious rooms, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were huge. One room’s TV didn’t work, and it was missing an iron, ironing board, and hair dryer, all things we need in everyday life. Breakfast was good but could’ve been better. The pools and arcade looked fun, though I didn’t use them. The staff were friendly, but someone’s entry into my room is why I’m giving three stars. I was about to shower when there was a knock, and before I could reach the door someone unlocked it. We startled each other. I asked the front desk who it was and why they came in. They hadn’t identified themselves as housekeeping, and housekeeping had already stopped by. The desk had no idea who it was, which made me worry a staff member might have been trying to steal my things. After that I didn’t want to leave the rooms unattended. I’d return, but wouldn’t bring anything valuable.

We checked in Friday and had a good time. The employees were really helpful, and Selma at the front desk was especially warm and welcoming. The guy in the back seemed okay too, though I guess he just handles the paperwork. My one issue was ordering fries from the bar Friday night. I went back after half an hour and they still weren’t ready, so I gave up because they were SO BUSY. We’ll definitely be back.

The arcade was a letdown. Some machines took our quarters or were missing parts, including the air hockey table with nothing to hit the puck with. My daughter put quarters in anyway, and nothing came out. A few claw machines did the same, which frustrated me because the kids had talked about the arcade all night and then it went badly when I took them in the morning. Breakfast was also very minimal. I was frustrated enough to leave a one star review, but after thinking it over, the friendly staff, comfortable beds, peaceful and quiet interior, and heated pool made the stay enjoyable for the whole family. If the machines worked and breakfast had more variety, this easily could’ve been five stars. I love the location and indoor pool, and the arcade issues won’t stop us from returning to San Angelo. I’d recommend Pearl on the Concho, just be cautious with the games.

Check-in was delayed until almost 6, and I had to go downstairs to ask for fresh towels. The door had a gap at the bottom and wouldn’t shut unless I slammed it hard. I also wish there’d been a microwave in the room. Aside from that, it was a good hotel.
