Antiques Warehouse

We won’t be staying at another Sonder property again. The support team responded quickly when I told them about the problems, but the stay still left a lot to be desired. Other guests were really noisy, and we could hear the people next door talking at normal volume. The living room carpet had hair and what looked like rice on it when we arrived. The hardwood floors were dusty and dirty, and we found bugs in the linens and dead bugs near all four corners of the floors. The washing machine wouldn’t drain, so I had to carry a full load of soaking wet clothes down a flight of stairs to the public washing machines.

The decor is nice, but the layout could be an issue for some people: the bed is upstairs and the bathroom downstairs. I didn’t mind that part. What I did mind was the summer heat. The building gets incredibly hot, and the two wall units couldn’t cool it down. Even with two fans trying to move the air around, it was still too hot. There’s very little insulation, so you hear everything other guests do. One guest had an infant who cried constantly, like an alarm clock every morning and throughout the day. I contacted Sonder several times about the heat and never got a proper solution.

We loved the beautiful space, and it was close enough to some great restaurants and downtown San Antonio. The Sonder team was friendly and quick to take care of our requests. We’re absolutely planning to stay here again.

I’ve stayed with Sonder in San Antonio five times, usually in Southtown. This time, some work at the unit I was meant to have led them to move us to Antiques Warehouse. The Sonder team were really nice about the last-minute change and answered my requests. The new place wasn’t a pleasant swap, though. Antiques Warehouse gets hot, especially in summer, and the AC isn’t enough. You have to leave the car outside, where it sits in the sun all day. The kitchen is smaller than at the other places in San Antonio.
