Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio Airport

The room was spacious, and the maids took good care of it. I thought I’d be sharing a bathroom, then realized the whole space was mine. Breakfast omelets were great, and I liked the happy hour deal. Dinner costs a lot, but the quality is worth it. Service was strong all around for the price. Special mention to Jesse, a great bartender, and Courtney, who was helpful and informative. Felt like an Elite on a middle-class budget, I guess.

The restaurant and breakfast were professionally done, with care in both presentation and cooking. My room was clean and ready for a comfortable stay, and service was excellent from check-in through check-out. I liked the hotel’s classic atmosphere. A couple of things for future guests: parking costs extra, and if you want to sleep until the noon checkout, remember to hang the Do Not Disturb sign.

It’s right by the airport, and although it’s an older hotel, it’s quite nice. The rooms are clean, spacious, and decent looking, with a good-sized mini fridge. The fitness center, lobby, restaurant, pool, and laundry all work well for either a short visit or a longer stay.

Breakfast staff and the morning front desk team were very good, and shuttle driver Tony was great. The rest of the experience was a major letdown. I’m almost always at Hilton properties and choose Embassy Suites when I can; I’ve been a Diamond or Gold member for ten years. My wife and I booked a King suite. Since we’d arrive around 3 a.m., I called reservations, who coordinated with the front desk and confirmed the room would be held until then. We got there at 2:30 and Juan told me, without apology or any effort to fix things, that the King room wasn’t available and only a 2x double remained. He said he’d seen the notes. I can understand mistakes or rooms going to larger groups, but I rely on Hilton for consistency, a welcoming atmosphere, and good service after a long travel day, and that’s not what we got. If I’d known at booking that only a double was available, I’d have chosen another hotel. By 2:30, I had no real options. Our room was dirty, the shower drained slowly and backed up, and the floor hadn’t been vacuumed. I sent a note to GM Jennifer Navarro and never heard back, which is why I’m leaving this negative review.
