Homewood Suites by Hilton San Antonio Northwest

The hotel seems okay and reasonably clean, but something’s off with housekeeping. Rooms are cleaned only every other day, yet on several occasions during my weeklong stay I was given just one washcloth, and the coffee supplies were never replenished.

We had to change rooms three times because each one had a problem. In the last room, next to the elevator, there was a clunk every time its doors opened or closed. The toilet sat so low it felt like a knee breaker. The shower pressure was like a fire hose, and late at night the water was only scalding hot. I’m amazed I wasn’t burned. This place needs a complete remodel.

The location was good, but the carpets were very dirty, and one elevator for the whole hotel made getting around inconvenient during the busy season. The gym kept being unavailable during our six-night New Year’s stay. On the third day its door was stuck, and even the front desk staff couldn’t open it with their master key. It was open the next day, but nobody explained what had fixed it; then it was closed again on the fourth day, and the problem was never resolved. The clothes dryer didn’t work either, making the laundry facilities hard to use for a longer stay. And there was no coffee after 3:00 p.m.

At checkout, we were locked out of our room, so be sure to pick up a key card. Guest room doors slam loudly all night because they don’t have proper stoppers, and the pool was ice cold. We were told it has no heater and that’s how it works, even though it would have been too cold even at 100 degrees. A manager replied to my review the same day and tried to dismiss the concern with another excuse. There were some bugs, and trash had been left in our room with no alternative available. I woke up to lip prints on our vehicle. With a well-lit parking lot that still didn’t feel safe, you wouldn’t want to leave valuables in the car. Nobody said “Good Morning”. Spanish was demanded every time.
