Motel 6 San Antonio Ft Sam Houston

I've been living here about 7 months and have enjoyed my time. Management is kind, understanding, and willing to work with you. I still stand by what I said in my last review, and recommend this as one of the better places around. I tell everyone I know to stay here. Every place has flaws, but here the good outweighs the bad for me. We're grateful to management for everything they've done and continue to do.

The room was already a mess before I set anything down, with black stains on the floor and dents in the walls. I just needed a place to shower and sleep for one night, so I tried to shrug it off. But I was charged a 50.00 deposit and never got it back, even though I didn't damage anything. Then, while packing to leave, I saw a cockroach crawl out from under the bed. I paid a little over 100.00 dollars for a disgusting room. I can't recommend staying here in good conscience. There are plenty of other Motel 6's in town, so look elsewhere and don't get scammed like I did. I'll never book here again. Put the deposit you stole from me toward fumigating this nasty motel.

For a one-night stay, the room looked cool and clean, and the TV worked, which my kid enjoyed. We brought our pets and appreciated that it's pet friendly. The front desk woman was accommodating when I asked for extra toilet paper. You get what you pay for, though: there was no shampoo, and you have to ask the front desk for a bar of soap. The staff were okay, and we didn't see roaches, bed bugs, or blood like some other reviewers mentioned. The area around the motel felt sketchy and unclean. It was loud at night from the nearby highway, and I wouldn't recommend being out after dark with kids. The next morning, we found a used condom beside our parked vehicle. It hadn't been there when we checked in. I'd ask for a room on the side by the front office and park there, since it's lit through the night and you can keep an eye on your vehicle. Nobody tried to break into our car.

The bed bugs were the worst part of my stay. I found them on the mattress and sheets. This was an infestation, not just dirt, and I worried about bringing them home and putting my own household at risk. To me, it suggested the rooms hadn't been sprayed or checked for months. The musty smell, carpet stains, and obvious lack of upkeep added to the impression of poor hygiene. When we reported the bugs, management seemed completely apathetic. There was no real apology or immediate solution, and they even blamed us, claiming WE had brought the insects into the room. That response was offensive. It felt like they were used to these complaints and had a script for shifting blame instead of addressing the problem. The attitude was as degrading as the room conditions. I consider this a serious health concern and believe the motel needs an urgent health inspection. Don't risk your health or clothes by staying here. In my view, it shouldn't be open to the public until it can guarantee the place isn't a danger to the community.
