Residence Inn by Marriott San Antonio Six Flags at The Rim

I was in town for surgery and picked this location to be near the hospital. The new manager Janel let us check in early so we could settle in before surgery day, and our clean, well-stocked room felt like a little apartment and fit our needs perfectly. After surgery, staff brought extra pillows and blankets, asked how I was feeling, and wished me well. They even helped me give and receive some items with Rose’s House. Breakfast was top notch, and everyone was great. The only downsides were no ice machines and one elevator being out, though a staff member even offered to go to the store for ice. I'm a Marriott member, and the care here went far beyond the normal hotel experience. I'm so grateful, and it still deserves five stars.

The rooms are spacious, but ours wasn't properly cleaned: shopping bags were left behind and the trash hadn't been taken out. The young woman at the desk on the night of 1/9 was lovely, especially with my little one. The breakfast was delicious, especially the potatoes, and Jared resolved the billing problem quickly when I called later in the afternoon. I had received three wrong receipts after the morning checkout, with the last one showing a restaurant charge even though this hotel has no restaurant. It wasn't adjusted when I first called, and a coworker had a similar charge, so I think the front desk that morning may have been checking guests out incorrectly. If charges are from the Courtyard restaurant, they should confirm the last name and room number at service. It's annoying to chase this days later. They also charge $10 a night for parking. Jared was very helpful, so I'm updating my review.

The location is handy, near CANES, other restaurants, shopping, Six Flags, a movie theatre, and the highway. The hotel and lobby were spotless, and the spacious downstairs had multiple TVs and a fireplace. Staff were great and responsive. Our room had a kitchen, and the room and beds were clean and spacious. Still, I wouldn't stay again unless I had no choice. Breakfast was below average: fresh fruit, yogurt, and milk were there, but the eggs were watery every morning, and the pancake batter tasted like liquid drywall. Butter and syrup couldn't save it. Bring your own pancake mix and cook it in the waffle maker if you stay. We were given just one roll each of paper towel and toilet paper for our three days, and had to ask for more. The single little bar of soap wasn't replaced, the body wash bottle stayed empty, and the shampoo left my scalp dry, my hair oily, and gave me dandruff, which I don't usually get. I should've brought my own. Also, one of the two elevators was broken the whole time. Bring your own toiletries and pancake mix, and improve these issues for a much better experience.

Christina was always helpful and greeted us with a smile. One morning I noticed my coffee creamer was expired, so check it before heading out. Apart from that, it was a great experience.
