The Maverick, powered by Placemakr - River Walk

Downtown SA has plenty to offer around this spot, from restaurants to historic sights. The building has a classy, clean apartment feel, a fun vibe, and even a comedy club downstairs. It’s in the historic downtown area, about a block from the Alamo, and the neighborhood felt safe and lively. I’d grab breakfast at the Paris Baguette, too. The location does mean paying for parking, and I found the Houston Street garage to be the cheapest option. The entrance to The Maverick is tucked along the side, so it can be tricky to find at first. One night the hot water stopped working. The hotel texted to say they were working on it, and I expected it to be back by morning, but it was still out when I got up. It was eventually fixed, but one cold shower is already too many when you’re paying to stay somewhere.

Jordin welcomed us when we arrived early, offered to hold our bags, and shared some recommendations. When we came back, he got us checked in quickly and made sure we had what we needed. The staff also kept our bags until our flight, which gave us extra time in San Antonio. All the front desk staff and doormen were fantastic and gave top notch service. The hotel is handy for the River Walk, Market Square, and Hemisphere Park. I’ll stay here next time I visit San Antonio!

The room was a comfortable size and came with a good sized fridge, Keurig, cooktop, sink, and all the dishes and utensils we needed. The receptionist was professional and gave us helpful information, and we felt safe and secure here. It’s an easy walk to the garage, Riverwalk, restaurants, and theaters. If you don’t valet, parking is free for disabled guests coming and going each day. We’ll definitely stay again!

I came for work and had a great stay. The hotel has so much character, the location is fantastic, and I loved the cute room and having a little kitchen. CeCe, Bianca and Daly were all so helpful and wonderful with guests. The gym is very nice, too, with updated equipment.
