Hilton San Diego Airport/Harbor Island

The airport is close, the shuttle is free, and the harbor is fairly quiet with a nice path to walk along. Those were the bright spots. For what this stay cost, I expected much more service and more included amenities. Our room wasn’t very clean, there were hardly any towels or toilet paper, and the room service button didn’t work. There was no smart TV for streaming, and the cable selection was extremely limited. Dining and room service at the hotel were both expensive, with very few choices. I probably wouldn’t recommend staying here, and would look elsewhere in the area.

Vanessa and Xavier made our stay feel special. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful from the moment we arrived, and we felt well looked after the whole time. The views were beautiful too, and we’d happily stay again and recommend the hotel to friends and family. The bathroom could use some updating, but it’s still a great place to stay.

The clean, quiet room and the convenient airport van were definite pluses, especially with the airport so close. Luis was the only staff member I dealt with, and he was friendly and welcoming. He probably deserves a raise. I was there for business, so the view from Room 408, over the pool, parking lot, and dumpsters, didn’t bother me. The bed was another matter. I slept badly all five nights and woke up with a sore back each morning. There’s no lobby continental breakfast, and I passed on paying $27 at the hotel restaurant for bacon, eggs, and potatoes. There’s also no microwave, so keep that in mind if you’re making food in the room. The shower and tub are narrow, with the soap dish right at elbow height. Turn around carefully or you’ll knock your things into the tub or hit your funny bone. The stay was okay, just not what I expected from Hilton.

The pool and big deck by the water are lovely, with great views. The rooms seem to have balconies too, small but enough. Service is top notch, as you’d expect, and it’s a nice hotel overall. The halls feel a little odd because the architect seems to have focused on giving rooms a view. But who hangs around the halls anyway?
