My family of six had plenty of space at the Sophia Hotel in San Diego. The room was huge, with room for the kids to play and enough privacy for the adults. Everything was super clean, and the customer service was top-notch. Everyone was friendly and attentive. We loved our stay and highly recommend it!

From the outside, the Sofia Hotel looks old, but inside the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and courteous, and the downtown location was the best part. Most of the places we wanted to see were within walking distance. My wife and I had a great experience.

The place was quiet for such a big city, and everyone seemed nice, so I may come back. Still, it would help to have fans running in the rooms to mask street noise. I don't feel safe sleeping with earplugs in, since I want to be able to hear others in an emergency. No bathtub or hot tub was tough after all the walking, too. When occupancy is low, it would also be nice to leave some space between guests' rooms.

For the price, being right on Broadway is hard to beat, and I had a pleasant stay. The bathroom needs some thought: it's tiny, there's no shelf for shower items, no hand towels, and barely room for a trash can. The towel rack sits above the toilet paper, which seems like an odd spot. The shower pressure was fine, but the drain was very slow. Most of the outlets didn't work, and there were no USB ports.

The room felt a bit dirty, like it doesn't get a deep clean often, and sound carries everywhere. I could hear both the neighbors and street noise. The staff weren't very friendly, either. For the same price, you can find somewhere nearer the water with more amenities. If you do stay here, I'd keep it to one night.
