Cable Car Court Hotel

It’s a bit dated, and apparently rated as a one-star hotel, but I’m really glad we gave it a chance. The place was clean and comfortable, and the staff were super helpful with our odd check-in and checkout times and arranging transportation. The location worked perfectly for what we needed. I’d book here again.

For $520 for six nights, the price was hard to beat in this area, and getting around was easy with so much nearby and public transit close at hand. My room was spacious enough and had a microwave, TV, desk, private bathroom, and a really nice shower. It was clean, though I counted eleven roaches over the stay. One guest started a fire, so we had to evacuate at 3:30 a.m. The thin windows let in everything happening outside, but I’m used to city noise. This is fine for younger people on a budget who won’t spend much time in the room. I wouldn’t recommend it for a family or anyone expecting something special.

The staff were friendly, and our room was nice, with a handy sink and clean bathrooms. We could get in earlier than expected, which was a huge help after landing so we could freshen up and leave our bags. The downtown San Francisco location is close to a lot, and walking saved us money on transportation. Highly recommend!

I booked two nights and left after the first, at 5 in the morning. There are long-term residents, the whole place smells of weed, and unsettling people were in the corridors, sharing the bathroom. As a woman travelling alone, I can’t recommend staying here. It felt like the setting for the next true crime story.
