Edwardian Hotel

The location makes getting around easy, with several public transport lines nearby and downtown close. The room was basic but clean, and the WiFi worked well. There’s no coffee or in-room safe, and there are very few outlets. Heating comes from a small, noisy fan heater rather than central heating. The old lift still works.

For a one-night stay at this price, I’d come back. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the location felt safe and convenient. We arrived quite late, but the lobby staff helped us check in. The only snag was the shower curtain, which let water splash all over the place. Everything else was clean, and towels could manage it for now, though the curtain needs fixing.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and the hotel sits in a quiet area that feels quite safe by San Francisco standards. I found it noticeably calmer and safer than SoMA or around Union Square. Getting around is easy too, with Muni, Bart, downtown SF, Castro, and Lower Haight nearby, plus lots of cafes and restaurants. The rooms have been renovated and look really nice. A desk or a little more furniture would be useful. One thing to keep in mind: the elevator is old, so this may not be the easiest hotel for someone with accessibility needs.

The room had a comfortable bed and a nice, spacious bathroom, so I was happy with my stay at Edwardian. Just know what you’re booking: it’s a no-frills place to sleep on noisy Market street. The building is older, and sound comes through the gaps.
