Grand Hyatt at SFO

The bed was comfortable, there were outlets on both sides, and getting here from the airport by AirTrain was easy. I also liked the food service and the airport view. The room itself was small, smaller than the Hyatt House room I had near the Denver airport, and there wasn't a desk or much space on the bedside tables. The shower looked great for a standard room, but the water pressure was awful. The mini fridge was tiny, and there were no water amenities or spa. Connecting HDMI to the TV was nearly impossible, though maintenance did get it working. Noise was mixed. The windows kept outside sound down and the view was great, but the thin interior walls meant hearing doors shut and hallway conversations. They didn't offer an upgrade or ask about late checkout, and my in-app late checkout request wasn't received either. It was an okay stay. Next time, especially if the Blue Line is down like it was this time, I may try the Hyatt Regency at the airport since the travel time isn't much different.

The room was the highlight after my flight home got canceled. The bed was really comfortable, the linens plush, and I appreciated having hot tea and a fantastic soaking tub. I couldn't hear any planes at all, even with the airtrain just outside my window. Getting here is simple, since the airtrain from either the terminal or rental car center stops right at the Grand Hyatt's front door. The coffee shop stays open around the clock, and the other amenities were very nice too. A great place to land after a cancellation.

Even with a room facing Interstate 101, it was quiet, and I don't think I heard a single plane despite being right by San Francisco’s International airport. That was great, and I'd stay here again. I got in after 8:30 pm for just one night before an early flight. Two pleasant doormen met me at the entrance. Check-in is on the 4th floor; I skipped the offered digital key and did it the old-school way. The front desk staff were friendly, and the setting feels luxurious.

Breakfast on the 3rd floor was good, and the stay was remarkably quiet despite being next to the runway. I liked the unusual airport-side experience, and the terminals are super close. There were binoculars in the room for watching the runway. They weren't the best, but it was fun to have them. Around midnight, though, an aircraft fuel smell came in from outside and lingered in the room for about an hour. It wasn't pleasant, but eventually went away. The club was a little underwhelming. Still, it made for a very nice short break in or out of the airport.
