Staypineapple, An Elegant Hotel, Union Square

Yesha and Bryan at the front desk gave us incredible service and made the stay really enjoyable. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, with plenty of charm. Our bed was super comfy, with fluffy European-style duvets, and the shower pressure was fantastic. It's at the edge of the Tenderloin, but more in the theater district, so we didn't feel unsafe. A great stay.

Brian at reception was so welcoming and friendly, and made my stay in San Fransisco much easier and better. The staff were all warm and welcoming. The hotel itself is stunning downtown, close to beautiful attractions and places to eat. The rooms were unbelievable, so clean, tidy, and well looked after. Bravo 👏

Yesha was especially helpful in getting us an early check-in. The rooms are small, but clean and cozy, and we had a great stay. I wish they'd find a way to use the closed bistro area for some kind of breakfast. The bedding arrangement is a bit frustrating: I can see why some people like two duvets, but when we both snuggle in the middle, every movement makes a draft as they pull apart. It'd be nice to have queen-size blankets as another option.

I've stayed here twice. The hallway and rooms have a faint sewage smell, though you get used to it after about half an hour. The rooms are nice but really small, with some thoughtful touches: glassware and mugs, good-smelling bath products, comfy robes, and a free drink of your choice. There's a Keurig with unlimited coffee and tea. The staff are friendly, and it's reasonably quiet. Sometimes you hear someone yelling outside or cars honking, but it hasn't disturbed my sleep. I've never heard neighbors through the walls, just occasional hallway noise. The neighborhood is so-so, but feels safe enough for a woman traveling alone if you're taking Ubers everywhere. After 7 p.m. the front door is locked and you need a key to get in; desk staff can let you in if you're checking in or have forgotten yours. There's no restaurant or room service. I think there's a coffee shop with light snacks in the morning, but I've never tried it. For a solo work trip, it's a solid, fancy-enough choice for the money, especially if you won't spend much time in your room or at the hotel.
