The Herbert Hotel

Check-in across the street was quick, and checking out was even simpler: I just dropped the card in the lobby downstairs. The location between Union Square and the BART station was great, and it felt fairly safe at night. The room was surprisingly large and clean enough, and came with a water boiler, coffee, and tea. For the attractive price, I had a great experience, despite what some other comments say. Fresh towels might be an issue if you stay longer, but for a few days it shouldn’t be a problem.

The bathroom worked fine, though it felt a little dated, and I noticed a few loose hairs in the room when I arrived. That took away a bit from the first impression. Still, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the hotel offers fair value given its central spot in San Francisco. Shops, restaurants, major sights, and public transport are all within a short walk, so The Herbert Hotel is a very convenient base.

For six comfortable nights, I had everything I needed. The downtown San Francisco location is right in the middle of things, and the price was reasonable. It doesn’t have the newest features or fancy amenities, but it met my needs for the cost and location.

I was nervous after reading the bad reviews, and this was the only affordable option I found, but it met my expectations. The room was clean and comfortable, and getting around was easy on foot or by bus. I paid around $500 for 5 nights, and felt it was worth every penny. I also liked the room’s NYC vibe. There were some homeless people around, though not many. I noticed them while walking at night, and figured that was just part of city life. The building has its own security system. They kept texting before and after check-in and checkout to check on me, and the employees were really nice. I loved the place, it was very clean, very cutesy, very demure, and I’d recommend booking with them.
