Budget Inn San Gabriel

The inn sits above a noisy car garage, with music and engine sounds going day and night. Inside, the room was dirty, and there was no cleaning service for a whole week. One day the water was off for hours, too. The condition of the property fell short of basic hotel standards, and the stay was extremely disappointing. It didn’t match the listing at all. Do not stay here.

The room was on the ground floor, had no windows, and felt very humid. The AC unit was filthy. Checking in took forever while the clerk tried to register me and find a room in the system. The outdated IT and poor privacy just added to what was already the worst motel experience I’ve had.

The manager was pleasant, but the room was the filthiest I’ve ever had anywhere. The sheets, mattress cover, and pillows were stained and dirty. I slept on my back for four hours with the lights on and all my clothes on, hoping there were no bed bugs. I didn’t see roaches, but I wouldn’t use the towels on my face or body. Parking is tight. Honestly, unless you’re going to turn the place into a homeless shelter, get rid of it. It should be condemned.

The room was so bad we worried about getting sick or bringing bugs home. My throat started itching and I got bug bites within about 20 minutes. It was too late to cancel, or we would’ve run. There was hair, stains, and mold on the sheets and pillowcases, and dirt along the edges of the chairs, chests, fridge, and other things. The hangers were filthy, the water drained poorly, and the pipes smelled. Towels were gray and the bath mat was scary dirty. I was glad we brought our own towels and slippers. We wondered if the bedding was ever washed, or if their washer was clean. Upstairs, the path felt soft underfoot, and we had to carry two suitcases weighing over 40 pounds each because there’s no elevator. The check-in office smelled like cigarette butts, and the staff didn’t really speak English. The pictures didn’t show how dirty and poorly maintained the place is. Terrible, horrible experience. I don’t recommend it at all!
