The staff made this a decent stay, with great service from beginning to end. Parking was easy, and I didn’t have the dirt or noisy neighbors that some other reviews mention. The room was clean, though dated, and the lighting was dim. A few little things felt undersized, especially the tiny sponge and shampoo bottles that barely lasted one use. The gate was also unreliable and didn’t always open.

The hallway smelled like cooking, trash was piled outside doors, and there were big barking dogs and yappy ones. I suspect a lot of people live here, which may be why there are roaches. After coming back from an event at SAP center around midnight, I wanted to pack up and go home instead of staying. The grab-and-go breakfast is exactly what it sounds like. There was police presence when we left. Stay somewhere else. The neighborhood felt very sketchy, and I was glad my husband was with me. The front desk staff, though, were friendly and accommodating. In room 138, a king studio, they warned us the bedside light didn’t work, which I could live with, but then we saw a cockroach crossing the bathroom counter. They offered a refund or another room. I wanted the refund, but my husband wanted to try room 104. We didn’t see pests in that room, but it had other problems: a weak toilet flush, low shower pressure that took about 15 minutes to warm up, hair in the tub, and odd stains on the bed. There weren’t any amenities in the room, so you have to ask the front desk for kitchenette items. My food got stuck in the microwave, though it was spotless, and we figured out how to release it. There was no coffee maker, and I wouldn’t have used it anyway. Edit: A San Jose local told me this is where the Mayor housed people he removed from homeless encampments. I’m glad they have somewhere to stay, but this location shouldn’t be listed on hotel booking sites. The manager later called to apologize for the problems, which was the right thing to do, and I appreciated that he cared.

We were heading north and needed a place to stop with our dogs, without much planning. The fridge and microwave were useful, but the smell from the hall lingered into the bedroom, the internet didn’t work, and the place wasn’t very clean. It felt close to a homeless shelter. If we’d known it was this bad, we would’ve kept driving. Just sharing our experience :)

The room was okay, and the staff were nice. I booked a deluxe room because it was near the place I wanted to visit, close to the SAP center, and advertised free breakfast. The breakfast was a disappointment, basically gas station muffins and coffee. The area felt very shady, with a lot of questionable people around. Someone’s car had been broken into while I was there, and during my five-day stay I saw police on three days. I wouldn’t stay here again.

After dark the area felt questionable, with men hanging around in the parking lot. When our Uber driver dropped us off after dinner, he said he’d stay until we got inside. I did feel safe once in the room, though, and if price is the only thing you can afford, that may count for something. It’s a bare-bones hotel without amenities. You can ask for shampoo, but there’s no coffee maker or paper towels. The room was barely acceptable: a couple of dead bugs on the floor, no closet doors, a chair badly chewed by animals, and a stained mattress pad visible through the sheets.
