I came for ten days of work in early December and stayed in the shed at the back, unit 3. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially in cold weather. After five days I left and got a hotel for the rest of my trip. I’d booked through Whimstay to save money, but it wasn’t worth it. I gave two stars for the comfortable bed and hot water. The shower was so small it was hard to wash yourself. Getting inside was a mess because the door battery was too low to unlock it. I spent half an hour with customer service, who kept reading a script about how the punch code worked and sent YouTube videos showing how to use the lock. It took two calls with different reps and several texts before they understood I knew how to enter a code and the battery was dead. They eventually gave me a key from a lockbox. The heater was dangerous. It could scald you if touched, and in the cramped space with oversized furniture I’d graze it just walking by. It only had on and off, with no temperature control, so I didn’t feel safe leaving it on while sleeping or at work. The unit stayed freezing until I heated it up. There were spiders in the corners, which isn’t a huge deal to me since I camp and hike, but one floated down over me while I watched TV in bed. It did make me wonder if they were crawling on me at night. The Wi-Fi was unreliable too. Shows buffered every few minutes until I gave up, and three times the connection dropped completely for more than 30 minutes. The place is tiny, and the big, clunky furniture means you have to turn sideways to get past the bed to the bathroom. It’s also poorly maintained: floorboards were warped and lifting, with a screw put in to hold one down instead of replacing it. Outside was extremely dark. I needed my phone flashlight to get in because the one dim motion light only came on when I stood under it and didn’t light the keypad or lock. The neighbors played loud music with heavy bass until around 10:30 or 11 p.m. As a single woman, I didn’t feel very safe. If you need almost nothing, have only a small suitcase, and are trying to save money, it might work.
