Spark by Hilton San Jose Airport

The hotel was clean and well maintained, and the woman working Saturday morning around 10 a.m. (01/03/26) was wonderful. We were exhausted after a 4 a.m. travel day, and her warm, upbeat manner during early check-in made us feel genuinely welcome. I noticed the plane noise, as other reviews had mentioned. I'm a light sleeper, but earplugs did the trick. My husband wasn't bothered at all. The only small drawback was the thin doors, which let hallway conversations come through sometimes. Still, it was a great stay and I'd recommend it.

We were a family of four and had a great stay. The hotel was very clean, and the service was excellent. Breakfast wasn’t the best, but we appreciated having something, and the grab-and-go setup was easy. It’s close to the airport, though only a few planes flew over. Nights were quiet, and we’ll definitely come back.

The staff were polite and did their best to help, and the room was clean and comfortable, with a good bed, TV, and desk. The price was decent, too. The place looks nicer in person than online, though it felt like they’d dressed it up to seem more upscale than it is. I think the property was converted from an apartment complex, and it has some built-in issues. Breakfast was fine if yogurt works as your protein. There were boiled eggs, but you had to peel them. It wasn’t a hot breakfast like at the Hampton Inn, with no waffles or sausage and bacon. My biggest disappointment was the hot water. In room 203 it was warm enough to shower, but nowhere near hot enough to relax in, and it stayed that way all week. They offered to move me, but I’d already unpacked and decided to stay put. It came close to a four-star effort, but the lack of hot water really let it down.

There are better options near SJC. The renovation left me wondering what Hilton thinks the word means. There’s a new fountain and fresh paint outside, but the place still felt like a budget motel with a new logo. The bed was okay, though very firm, and there was no coffee pot in the room. That mattered more after I poured a cup from the communal coffee and found unexplained white specks floating in it. The continental breakfast was also very basic, more like a low-end motel than a Hilton-affiliated property. The parking lot was cramped and poorly laid out, and sharing it with the Burger King next door made it congested and chaotic at times. Between that, the coffee, and the sparse room amenities, the whole makeover felt like lipstick on a pig.
