Motel 6 – San Jose, CA - South

I rarely leave bad reviews, but I’m done with Motel 6 after this. The room was old and dirty, the beds were awful, and my feet got dirty just walking from the shower to the bed. I used a towel to show how filthy the floor was. The toilet was gross, and the bathroom corner was dirty too. They said they’d give us a discount, but never did. $100 a night for this? No thanks.

We got no sleep, and the room was extremely messy with bed bugs in the bed. At 1am, people were partying, drinking, singing, dancing, shouting, and making a scene in the back parking lot in front of room 129, where we stayed. We called the front desk and got no answer. Then we realized the receptionist was the guy partying with a bunch of his friends. He’d also rented a room right above ours for them, and we could hear them stomping around, drinking, and acting recklessly. The owner should be ashamed, and they shouldn’t be allowed to use the Motel 6 name. Just read the reviews. This was the worst experience.

The room was a mess in terms of basic functionality: both lights above the bed and the outlet by the nightstand didn’t work. Neither did the phone, so I couldn’t call to report any of it. I told staff I had a disabled person with me, and all they offered was a room on the second floor. They should have offered a refund. They said there was no maintenance person to replace a bulb, and if I wanted a new phone, I’d have to walk to the office to get one. If you want to know what’s happening with San Jose PD, sit in the parking lot and listen to the scanners. I didn’t make this hotel reservation, and I wouldn’t recommend staying unless you’re God-fearing and Jesus is at your side and heavily armed. LOL.

Today is January 11, 2026. I’ve never had a hotel front desk hang up on me before. The woman who answered had a surprisingly unpleasant attitude, was impatient, and didn’t explain things well. I don’t know her name, but the call left a strong impression. I chose this place because of the cat, and I’ll stay so I can find out face-to-face who hung up on me and was so rude. 😄
