We got no sleep, and by the end I felt exhausted and badly treated. The DJ downstairs sent sound and vibrations through the floor, walls, and windows. I played white noise on my phone, but it couldn’t cover the bass. The music went on well into the early morning, even though Brian had told me it would stop at midnight and the bar’s website said it closed then. None of us slept. A week after I booked, I got a call saying our room had been double-booked and they’d put us in two rooms instead. We’d wanted to stay together, but decided to make it work because I was assured we’d be comfortable and get the rest I badly needed with my 14-month-old. Brian warned me there’d be noise, but said the music would end at 12:00 AM. There was no preparing us for what actually happened. When I complained to Brian the next day, he claimed he’d never spoken to me. We’d talked three times on the phone. He also said they’re transparent about the noise, but they aren’t. I own a rental property for short and long-term stays, and I’d never mislead or speak to renters the way we were treated. I ignored the reviews about customer service and noise after seeing the location and room photos and thinking it looked perfect. I wish I hadn’t. I’ve never written a bad review before, but this experience compelled me to. It’s not worth paying a hefty price for a place where you can’t sleep and the owners don’t care about their renters. If you want to pay a premium to feel utterly exhausted and be treated poorly by your hosts, this is the place for you.

Getting through to this hotel is a problem. They don’t answer the phone, so when we wanted to add a night to our stay, we had to book it online. That left us with two reservations and two cleaning fees. We only had the room cleaned once after our stay, so it made sense when they agreed to refund one of the fees. We have written confirmation of the refund from the new owner and from the time we stayed, but more than 90 days have passed and they still haven’t paid it. The customer service is horrible.

SLO Brew Lofts, fix your listing. The vague “loud nearby noise” is actually a bar with a DJ and blaring speakers directly downstairs, right under the loft floor. The volume shakes the whole apartment, and I can hear it from every part of the place. They clearly know about it, since they don’t accept refunds or noise complaints. Anyone thinking of staying here should know they may not sleep until midnight or later. Don’t stay here unless you’re fine with that. The listing seriously downplays how noisy it is.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. The noise is completely unacceptable. Don’t overestimate how much noise you can tolerate. This place just isn’t okay.

The lofts are spacious, comfortable, attractive, and well equipped, with great food, drinks, and shopping nearby in a central location. But the bar and club downstairs can be intensely loud. I can’t overstate how much the noise hurt our stay, so caveat emptor. Parking is a few blocks away, which wasn’t a big deal except that street closures for events can make it impossible to load or unload.
