Downtown SLO Inn

I only use this place to sleep when I visit my grandchildren in San Luis Obispo, and I've stayed here a couple of times. Something in the bathroom has gone wrong each visit. Once, the shower faucet turned on but broke when I tried to shut it off, so water kept pouring into the tub. They moved me to another room while it was repaired. On a later stay, the bathroom fan was so unsteady that the light flickered like a strobe, so I unscrewed the bulb. I also found black marks on the sheets. The manager said they weren't dirty and that the laundry service couldn't remove the stains, even after I called to ask for fresh sheets. I suggested they change laundry services. I only stay here when I have no other option.

We checked out four days ago after two nights at this motel, and the red, very itchy spots are still all over my legs. They also appeared on parts of my back and the backs of my arms. My boyfriend has a few on his lower back too. I reported what looked like bed bug bites at around 1 a.m. on the first night and offered to show the red spots on my body. The owner checked the bed and said they weren't bed bugs, but moved us from a king room to one with two smaller beds. Both beds there had bed bugs too. We washed everything we had brought into the rooms, including our luggage and shoes, because I was afraid some might come home with us. This was a horrible, dreadful stay. For your own good, I'd recommend staying as far as possible from this SLO Inn Downtown San Luis Obispo.

I've been stopping here for around three years and still enjoy coming back. The owners seem to keep paying attention to the property, and the changes they've made feel like a good sign of that care. It's a handy road trip stop, with easy access to and from the highway and downtown just a short ride away. Check-in was easy, and the front desk staff were really friendly and informative. My second-floor room had a lovely mountain view, and there's a newer outdoor spot to hang out with friends or on your own. You get the basics without paying too much.

The room was disgusting and the service was awful. I only had to stay one night, but the shower didn't work and there were brown stains on the bed. Checking in was crap. Stay somewhere else unless you're desperate.
