TownePlace Suites by Marriott San Luis Obispo

Breakfast was delicious, and the woman serving it was kind and helpful every morning. Zayra and Maria from housekeeping also made sure my room was comfortable and stood out for being so friendly. They made the whole stay feel especially welcoming. I had a great time at TownePlace Suites in San Luis Obispo.

It’s a good spot, with lots of EV charging and easy access to the freeways. Breakfast was good and better staffed, but the staff weren’t particularly courteous or polite, accommodating, or respectful toward Titanium and Ambassador level members. Bonvoy should treat its top 1% members much better if it wants better reviews.

The complimentary breakfast was a plus, with a simple but nice selection. Our room was a bit bigger than usual and had a handy kitchenette. We were traveling with our doodle, and the refrigerator made storing her food easier. There’s a small grassy area for dogs, and the Tesla chargers were great, like charging at home. We’d definitely stay again.

Update Dec 2025: There was no shampoo in the room, the sofa bedding had been used and not replaced, and breakfast had run out of many items with 30 minutes still to go. It’s still a nice place compared with other options in SLO/Pismo. The location is convenient for the coast, with lots of shopping and Costco nearby. Employees were all very nice, but the building already shows a lot of wear despite being only three years old, and looks more like ten. Breakfast is basic, and the area is cramped. The walls are thin: on New Year’s Eve, kids next door were so loud that the noise came right through. The desk offered us a room change, but it was already late. The next night we could hear people in the other room too. I was surprised a newer hotel had such thin walls, especially after staying in so many hotels.
