Best Western San Marcos

After an 8-hour drive, I arrived to check in with my daughter and dog, only to be told they don't accept pets. I always travel with my dog, and that's one reason I stay with Best Western. On their website, I select the pet box when searching, so I thought this hotel took pets. The clerk showed me the tiny print at the bottom of the site, but that doesn't change what the search had indicated. They also refused to refund my money. They left us stranded out of state and couldn't care less. This may be my last time doing business with Best Western, even though I've been a loyal customer and use them often.

My husband and I have been here for a few weeks while our house is being built. Everyone is so nice and accommodating, and the customer service is amazing.

The location was easy to find just off the highway, with several restaurants nearby. The outside pool was okay, and the water was clear, but it needed cleaning because bugs were floating in it. There was a strong old smell and curry smell. Our first room was clean, but there was a roach on the bed and a dead cricket under the AC unit. We switched rooms, then found a roach on the bathroom mirror when I went to shower. They need pest control and to deep clean and scan rooms before guests arrive. The front desk person was amazing, quickly changing our room and making sure it was handled. He was polite and helpful, but unfortunately couldn't control the other problems.

We slept well, it was quiet, and both the rooms and bathrooms were clean. Breakfast was good too. I'd recommend this location.
