Extended Stay America - San Francisco - San Mateo

My wife and I had a great 10-day stay. The staff were friendly, and the location was convenient, near Target, Starbucks, and some restaurants. There was free breakfast and plenty of parking.

WALTER handled my reservation and was professional, helpful, and quick to take care of what I needed. Before that, I’d asked ANNA at the counter whether my booking was set, and she gave me an attitude. I asked WALTER later how long she’d worked there, and he said a long time. I’m surprised she’s lasted that long treating customers so rudely and unprofessionally. 🤨

The road noise kept me awake, and the smoke in my supposedly non-smoking room was awful. It smelled like an ashtray and made my eyes burn. The second-floor rooms face the highway, with single-pane windows, and even earplugs didn't help. I slept maybe an hour between the noise and the smell. I'm never coming back. Stay away.

The residents were loud and rude, playing music past midnight, and the front desk wouldn’t do anything about it. Inside, the rooms were dirty, the showers and tubs wouldn’t drain, and there was garbage everywhere. They don’t clean rooms unless you stay 14 days, won’t bring anything to your room, and the desk can’t fix broken things. This place feels like Section 8 housing. I’ll never stay at this “hotel” again.
