Sonesta Select San Ramon

Shelly at the front desk was fantastic. Her friendly smile and attitude first thing in the morning sent me off to work with a skip in my step. The rooms and housekeeping could use a little improvement, but I travel all over the western states and will choose Sonesta first whenever I can. Thanks, Shelly, for being so hospitable.

The key mix-up on our first day left us feeling very uncomfortable. The receptionist gave me the wrong key, and I could get into a room that wasn’t ours. They fixed it only on the second day. That’s a serious privacy and security concern, and it made me question whether the hotel has proper controls for protecting guests and their belongings. There also seemed to be no real security presence, and the place didn’t feel safe or well managed. I stayed at Soonest Select, San Ramon for 3 days over Thanksgiving and booked 3 rooms. We received no housekeeping at all. Whenever we asked for help, staff said they were short on staff. The receptionist was rude and unprofessional, too. For what we paid and expected, this was nowhere near acceptable. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, security, or good service.

The housekeeper came to our door three times before checkout, even though they knew the checkout time. They were pushy and made us feel rushed and unwelcome in a room we had paid for. At the front desk, the check-in and hosting staff were repeatedly rude and uninterested. I saw staff taking personal calls while guests stood right in front of them waiting for help. The staff seemed to treat guests like an inconvenience, and the hotel clearly lacks management. Between the pushy housekeeping and the front desk’s rudeness, the stay was incredibly stressful. Save your money and go somewhere the staff actually wants to do their jobs.

We came from Modesto for a surgery, and this place had exactly what we needed. The room was great, the AC and heat worked perfectly, and the TV selection was better than the usually poor choice at hotels and inns. It even had great channels and apps for watching our saved programs from home. I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else in the area but here.
