Avalon Inn

For under $50 a night, I got a clean room and a comfortable bed. The place is definitely dated, though it seems well maintained. There was HBO, coffee in the room, and the AC worked great.

We stayed a few nights and called ahead to confirm there'd be a mini fridge, since some rooms don't have one. They assured us ours would, but it wasn't there, so thankfully we had brought a cooler. The room and AC had a moldy smell, and my friend woke up with a sore throat. If I needed a budget stay, I might choose it again, but only if my budget were still that tight.

The room was okay to stay in, and the location is handy for Cedar Point. It’s cheap and old overall, but at least the bed was clean. The Wi-Fi worked well in the lobby and barely worked in the room, where I couldn’t use it. Breakfast wasn't worth having: just tiny doughnuts and coffee, and the doughnuts were so cheap. There were no tongs, and the toilet paper area was messy. I’d skip the food. I hope they do a little remodeling.

There was a leak from the roof into my room, and paint and plaster were falling from the ceiling. I was lucky it didn't land on me while I slept. When I told the manager, he didn't apologize, just said the building was old and this can happen sometimes. The service was very poor, and the room wasn't clean. Be aware, this isn't a good place to stay.
