We've chosen Holiday Inn Express for many years and plan to keep doing so. They have made the most of this older hotel, though the hallways feel like a dormitory. Our room was clean, and the staff were pleasant and professional. There were a few annoyances: the entry door could only open about two-thirds of the way because the desk was in its path, and the plumbing noise from next door was quite noticeable. There weren't any hot chocolate packets in the breakfast area. We stayed May 19-22, 2026.

I now have 28 bites and counting. I had to throw out my suitcase, laundry basket, and several soft furnishings that couldn't withstand treatment. I've already spent six hours cleaning. Unless the owner plans to refund the stay, spare me the platitudes and clean up this nasty property before the infestation makes someone sick. I checked in on the 11th with the AC set to 64, so the room was very cold. On the morning of the 12th, I found two red, itchy welts on my arm. They grew larger and more painful during the day. The next morning there were 6-8 new ones. I tried checking the mattress seam for bed bugs, but the IHG mattresses had gray tweed-style fabric around the sides. The older welts were much bigger and weeping, and I hoped a spider had bitten me. By the morning of the 14th, I had 22 bites, red raised welts with tiny holes in the center. As they swelled and stretched my skin, some started weeping and some bled. They were all extremely itchy. I told the front desk agent, the same incredibly rude FDA from check-in, but I don't expect she cared or even made a note of it. She looked visibly disgusted when I showed her the sores and welts left by her property. I bet the hotel knows about it and isn't remediating until forced. Why keep the room so cold? Maybe that's cheaper than fixing the infestation.

The location was convenient, with restaurants and places to get necessities within walking distance or a short drive. Staff were friendly and eager to help. I enjoyed my stay this weekend. Breakfast was good, though the space is small and gets chaotic when people are coming and going. I could hear noise clearly from above and in the hallway. It may have been the fitness room overhead or inconsiderate guests. I usually don't mind noise, but if you do, keep that in mind.

A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I stayed here overnight for our anniversary getaway. I booked through Expedia. When I checked in, the front desk guy took my card for the standard refundable $25 charge, checked us in, and gave us a room key. We left our things in the room and went out for the night. When we got back around midnight, a different desk person said nobody was in that room and I hadn't been checked in properly. We wanted a couple of waters, so I asked him to put them on the room. He asked for my card again, but it was declined after being flagged as fraud, so I gave him another card. The next morning I saw that second card had been charged $127. What the hell? I went down right away and found another new front desk guy. He said he'd fix it and asked me to check back before checkout. When I did, he said he'd spoken to his manager and the $127 would be returned in three business days. It never came back. That makes it look like they charged me $127 for two bottles of water. I've called and emailed, but they keep saying they have no record of charging that card. I filed a claim with my card lender and it was denied too, so now it seems they've taken $127 that I'll never get back. A neat little trick and scam. Beware. If they say they don't have you checked in after you've already checked in, don't let them charge another card. I had to learn that the hard way. The front desk staff are liars and scammers, and this was the worst experience.
