Mancelona Motel

This isn’t a hotel anymore, it’s apartments. When I lived here, any issues we raised were dealt with right away, but some neighbors weren’t very nice. Clean before putting anything in a room. My cousin and I helped clean one after the person who lived there had left, and it was so filthy we found crack pipes and other things. Nasty.

The office was closed every day until 3 pm, even though we’d been told we could get ice whenever we needed it. I stayed at the beginning of August, after reading what I thought were fake reviews, and was badly disappointed. The bed felt like old cardboard and seemed to have fleas or bed bugs. We were bitten badly, and I have pictures of my legs covered from top to bottom. The room smelled horribly musty. The shower was so tight that you had to fight the curtain and avoid touching the wall. I felt misled by the reviews.

The bed I chose had the fewest cigarette burns, despite the stern warning that smoking anything in the room would mean a $500 fine. The deadbolt didn’t work, and the other inside door lock was broken too. The sink and shower were filthy, though at least we seemed to have clean towels. Later, we found the beds had been used. There were crumbs, boogers, and hair in the sheets. Totally disgusting. I’d never stay here again and recommend avoiding the place.

I’ve stayed in cleaner places for the same cheap price, so this just wasn’t worth it. My boyfriend left covered in bed bug bites. The carpet hadn’t been vacuumed, there were stains all over the bed and floor, and one bed didn’t even have a fitted sheet. In the bathroom, the shower curtain was thick with mold, there was a used soap bar from a previous guest on the tub ledge, and the tub floor was dirty. We’d paid ahead and arrived well after the office closed, otherwise we would have asked for a refund and gone elsewhere. This was the most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed.
