Vagabond Inn Santa Barbara

I came from Los Angeles and found the "MOTEL 6" on Priceline. It was pretty much the most cost-effective place to stay, but I was skeptical because it was a " MOTEL 6"! Ms. Debbie checked us in even though we got there a little early. She was so warm and friendly, and looked after us like we were in a 5-star Hotel. The room was clean, beautiful, and outstanding, especially for the price in Santa Barbara. Everything was great and the location was convenient. I'll definitely stay here every time I'm in Santa Barbara.

The rooms were dirty and poorly kept, with filthy floors, stained linen, and dirty walls. The staff seemed disorganized and didn't know what the other shift was doing. I've stayed in plenty of motels, including Motel 6, and this was the worst one ever. I wouldn't recommend staying here at all.

We stayed one night this past weekend. The room seemed clean and had a microwave and refrigerator, but everything felt old and worn, and some bedsheets had stains. The Wi-Fi didn't work, which was a problem for my work since Verizon and T-Mobile cell service isn't great in some parts of Santa Barbara. There was no breakfast, not even continental, and well over $300 for one night is far too much for this kind of motel. I paid around $100 a night at a different Motel 6 in Gilroy, California. I know location affects the price, but I hate hotels charging a premium without offering enough to make it worthwhile. The first front desk guy we met at check-in was rude and unfriendly. The next morning's guy was a little nicer, though still somewhat awkward and off-putting. It was an okay stay for what we needed, but Motel 6 should rethink its pricing. Hotels jacking up rates just because of location is a terrible way to satisfy customers.

The place was spotless, and no one bothered us, even though some of the other guests seemed unsavory. I forgot my hair dryer at home, but thank God the front desk had one. The beds were a little stiff, but I'd stay again 1000%!
