Casablanca On The Beach

The location was great, but I’ve never stayed in a hotel this poorly kept. This wasn’t just an old building issue. The floor was covered in debris and clearly hadn’t been mopped. Walking barefoot left our feet black, and everything else was dirty too, including the water tray, refrigerator, and metal bed base. The bathroom was decent, but the toilet seat was so loose it nearly slid off when I sat down. There was a foul sewer-like smell that I assume came from the shower, and the room itself smelled musty. I tried the front desk several times, but each time there was just a handwritten note saying they’d be back later. I eventually gave up.

The location was great, and the other rooms on the property looked lovely, with nice ocean and Boardwalk views. But don’t arrive without booking ahead. I showed up at 2pm and was told there was one room left. We took it because of the location, even though it was expensive at the last minute. Then we waited three hours for it to be ready because someone had switched from our room to another one on the property. I could see why they’d switched. The air conditioning was only in one of the two bedrooms, and the other one was extremely warm. The second bedroom door couldn’t open all the way because it hit the bed. The view was awful, with tiny windows at the back of the property. It looked like an old building that had been converted into rooms. There’s also no one at the front desk before 8am or after 10pm.

We stayed in room 301, and the balcony view was amazing at sunrise and sunset. We paid for a late checkout but were made to leave early.

We’ve made so many memories here with our kids over the years, celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We even stayed during the early days of the Covid quarantine. It’s become our home away from home, only about an hour away, and the staff are always so welcoming. For my husband’s 49th birthday today, I called to ask for a room with a beach view, and they came through as always. They even sent a welcome text. I love the rooms and their history, and the location and price are great. The bathrobe and slippers make it feel especially welcoming. This is a lovely place to get away for a night or a few days. We’ll be back soon with the kids!
