Courtyard by Marriott Santa Monica

This worked really well for our family. We had a comfortable, clean room, and the pool, hot tub, gym, and laundry were all useful. The location is good, just a few blocks from the Santa Monica boardwalk, with plenty of food nearby. We had great Mexican at Tul Madra, and it was handy to have a small Target less than a block away. Parking was the one downside, since it was expensive, though I imagine that’s normal for the area. It was sad to see so many homeless people around.

We had a good stay at this Courtyard, and the front desk team did their best to help with our requests. The rooms were good, the beds firm, and everything worked. We barely spent time in them since we were out visiting. The hotel is close to lots of things, including the pier, and one of our rooms had a pier view. We’d reserved adjoining rooms, but none were available when we arrived. The staff kindly offered compensation for the inconvenience. We’d seen reviews mentioning many unhoused people nearby, but we didn’t encounter that and never felt unsafe.

I came from Japan with my family for six nights at the end of last year. The rooms were spacious and kept clean, and Mr. Aaron at the front desk was especially helpful. The location is convenient for walking to the Pier and other restaurants. I’d choose this hotel again next time.

We booked at the last minute after our travel plans changed. The room was clean, and the hotel is close to the pier, but we didn’t feel safe and wouldn’t recommend it. The surrounding area felt unsafe, with many homeless individuals and visible drug activity. The hotel door was locked during the day, and we didn’t see security staff, which concerned us. The walls are thin enough that you can clearly hear people walking outside and in neighboring rooms. Staff were rude.
