Hotel Santa Rosa

I booked three nights while working long shifts nearby, needing only a shower, a bed, and four hours of sleep without spiritual trauma. Instead, I got what I call the Santa Rosa Survival Simulation™. The first night, the AC died right away. Roaches weren't crawling, they were on patrol. The front desk offered another room, but I declined. I'd already claimed spiritual dominance over that bathroom and wasn't starting over. The next night brought loud thuds and screaming. The neighbor went full Shakespeare while hallucinating and shouting, “I KNOW WHAT YOU DID TO THE DOG, LORETTA!” I ate trail mix on the toilet, wondering if it was my last meal. On night three, the lights flickered like the motel ran on trauma and broken dreams. People showed up outside at midnight, like Coachella for ghosts. Someone was either fighting with a raccoon or being a raccoon. I still don't know. Would I recommend it? Only if you're shooting a low-budget horror movie, training for a post-apocalyptic reality show, or want perspective from sharing a room with insects who don't pay rent. Zero stars. I survived, but at what cost? Do better. Sleep in your car or rent a storage unit. Just... not here.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I couldn't stay the night. The room smelled strongly of smoke, and the smoke detector had been ripped out (see photos). There were stains on the sheets and wall, a dirty towel on the bathroom floor, and two of the four lights didn't work. Even at a cheap hotel, I expected the room to feel clean. I was traveling alone for one quick night, and as I carried things from my car, a group of men in the parking lot followed me with their eyes as I walked to the room. I felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe, so I left.

The staff did try to help, and I appreciate that, but I woke up with cockroaches on me and nearly had a heart attack when I opened my eyes. My neighbors kept knocking and rehearsing their sales pitch. I asked them to stop, but they didn't until they could be with me in the bathroom. The shower didn't work, and I think cockroaches had clogged it. Quite an “experience.”

The room was comfortable and clean, and the warm welcome continued throughout my stay. The staff clearly take pride in their work. At check-in, the front desk team made me feel valued, handled everything smoothly, and answered my questions about the area. They were friendly, professional, and went out of their way to make sure I had what I needed. I'd absolutely stay here again for that kind of service.
