Courtyard by Marriott Saratoga Springs

A very pleasant surprise on our road trip in a hybrid was the FREE EV charging in the parking lot. Those extra miles were much appreciated. The location was good, only a few blocks from the main strip, and the pool was a welcome amenity even if it wasn't anything special. The room was clean and the staff were great, shoutout to Lindsey at the front desk. It's a small, value-priced hotel, about what you'd expect, with a desk but not much dresser space, so it gave me more of a business trip feel than a luxury stay. That was fine, and it met expectations.

Vincent made arriving and checking out easy, and was very personable. I liked the room and found the bed quite comfortable. The shower could use an update, and depending on which side of the hotel you're on, there can be some road noise, though it never kept me awake. I skipped breakfast to try a local café, but I'll certainly be back.

The mattress was extremely comfortable, but the rest of the experience fell short of what I expect at a Marriott. We requested a quiet room, then found ours opposite the lift and beside the ice machine. We hadn't even opened the door before heading back down. The receptionist first said there were no other rooms, then “found” one. Its bedding looked creased, slept in, and ill fitting, so we had it changed. The bathroom towels smelled unpleasant, and there were scuffs all over, especially in the bathroom, where the cabinet door also didn't fit properly. There was no safe, which I consider essential, though there was a small microwave, which I don't. I tend to notice more negatives when the experience is poor, and this hotel had plenty. I'd urge management to put safes in all rooms, check rooms and bathrooms for scuffs and faults, and use laundry equipment that leaves sheets and towels looking and smelling better.

After visiting my Aunt in VT, I had another great stay at the Courtyard Saratoga Springs, my second time there. The room was clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Lindsey at the front desk greeted me warmly and was helpful. It was 94 degrees outside, and I didn't want to walk to a restaurant, so I ate at the Bistro. Rose Marie, the chef, was fabulous to chat with and made the greatest sandwich and salad ever. Breakfast was great too. Many thanks for a great stay.
