Residence Inn by Marriott Saratoga Springs

We were looking forward to using the hot tub, which was one of the reasons we booked, but there wasn't one. At the front desk, we were told they'd forgotten to update the website after removing it. How does that get overlooked? It felt like they were still advertising a hot tub to draw people in, even though keeping it had become too expensive. My family had been counting on it, and this came after we'd already tried to be patient about the condition of the room. We won't stay somewhere that misleads us again. If they had time to remove the hot tub, they had time to correct the website. I'd give zero stars if I could. When we first got to our room, it wasn't the one we'd originally prayed for, but they fixed that small mix-up. The replacement room smelled a bit smoky, like being in the city, which wasn't pleasant. The toilets wouldn't flush, there was trash in the bins, and we found stains on the chairs and beds. We were exhausted from traveling, so we went to bed without complaining. The next morning, the orange juice at breakfast tasted very stale.

This was my second stay, and the staff were friendly and helpful as always. We got one of the newly remodeled rooms, and it was very clean. The shower controls were the only issue: hot and cold were reversed, so getting hot or warm water meant dealing with very low pressure.

Everyone on staff was welcoming and kind, and the room was clean and really nice. We barely slept, though. The bed felt quite firm and made it hard to get comfortable, and there was a lot of noise from upstairs until around 4:30 in the morning. That made it hard to enjoy the stay fully. A softer bed and a quieter night would have made this a perfect visit.

A solid 4.25 to 4.5 hotel. The place was under construction and a bit dated, but the rooms were clean, the amenities worked, and the staff were friendly. All the kitchenette appliances were functional, and after a long day of travel, being able to make my own dinner, even a small thing, was great.
