The welcome and the little extras made the stay feel special, and breakfast was delicious. We also enjoyed having coffee and tea all day, plus the wine and cheese hour. Our room was spacious, gorgeous, and so comfortable, with heated bathroom floors, plush robes, luxury bath products, and a cozy fireplace. We spent ages unwinding on the deck, looking out at San Francisco, the bay bridge, the golden gate bridge, and Alcatraz. The private zen garden added to the peaceful feel. We were lucky to be upgraded to the City Lights spa Suite, which was the nicest place we’ve ever stayed, even after quite a bit of travel. Inn Above Tide sits right on the water in the heart of Sausalito, and everyone we met on staff was genuinely kind and welcoming. It felt like a once in a lifetime getaway, and we really didn’t want to leave.

After a long drive from Tahoe, I was happy to hear about the nightly wine and cheese reception. Brad checked me in and offered to bring it to my suite, with non-alcoholic options since I don’t drink wine. He gave me a real key, then kindly walked me to the room. The sunset view of the bay was even more striking than the photos, and having sparkling water and cheese delivered was a lovely touch. I felt relaxed and at home right away. There are restaurants just steps away, though I walked a little farther to Caldonia street and had dinner at Osteria Divino. Back at the hotel, I found a coffee and tea bar open 24 hours. I slept well in the comfortable bed, then enjoyed fresh fruit, pastries, quiche, and more for breakfast. It could have been brought to my room at no charge, but I chose the sunny sitting room and ate with my colleague, who was also staying at the Inn. I was in Sausalito and San Francisco for work, and one meeting took place in the hotel's Founder's Room Suite. The boardroom table beside the kitchen had AV setups for our presentation. With water views and natural light, it worked very well for our group of 7. I can see it fitting 8-10, or a few more for a reception. I’d happily do business there again. I can’t say enough good things about the Inn Above Tide, General Manager Mark, and Assistant General Manager Felipe. Guests are in excellent care with them at the helm.

The decks are lovely for relaxing with those magnificent San Francisco Bay views, and the rooms are very nice. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the well-presented evening wine and cheese and bountiful continental breakfast. We loved our stay at The Inn Above Tide in Sausalito, Ca., and already have reservations to return. I meant to give the room 5 stars. I accidentally hit 4.

The staff were extremely professional, and the morning newspaper and newsletter delivery and afternoon wine and cheese helped make the stay feel unmatched. I even contacted them ahead of time to arrange a birthday surprise for my husband, his favorite cookies and whiskey. They handled it flawlessly, and those cookies were honestly the best I’ve ever had. The view cannot be beat, and waking up right over the water feels incredible. This is one of the few high-end hotels I’ve stayed at that puts the guest experience first instead of nickel-and-diming. It may be my favorite hotel of all time. Truly one of a kind, and we’ll absolutely be back.

The place is a little minimal, with no bar or restaurant, but all of Sausalito is right there and the services they offer are very well done. I was especially impressed by the complimentary wine, and breakfast had terrific pastries. The people running this place clearly care about hospitality. I had a very nice two day stay, just a short trip from my home in SF, with the comfortable room, great location, and great view I expected.
