Holiday Inn Express and Suites Savannah - Midtown by IHG

We only stayed because we were picking up a new vehicle, and as IHG Diamond members, we’re embarrassed this place is part of Holiday Inn. We do not recommend it. There were bad smells from the lobby through the check-in area and elevators, changing a little on the fourth floor but still unpleasant. The fourth-floor WiFi was extremely slow, though we can’t speak for other floors. Beds were in very poor shape, ice and vending machines were missing, and cleanliness was awful: dead bugs stayed in common areas for more than 48 hours, and our room windows were filthy. The breakfast was terrible, the AC wouldn’t go below 72°F, the room door locks were loose, and the roof over the entrance needs repair. Every employee we encountered had a poor attitude, which made us think local management was poor too. We also saw the owner or local management change a ceiling light while standing on a step stool, handling the wires until the light came on, without following OSHA guidance, including Lock Out/Tag Out rules.

I was here for an extended stay, and the staff regularly checked in to make sure I was comfortable. The front desk crews were friendly and ready to help. Breakfast was always hot and well stocked, and the team cooking it was especially great. Thanks.

We were only here one night, but everything was clean and the employees were kind and attentive. Check-in and checkout were easy. We left before breakfast, so I can’t say anything about it. We were very satisfied and would stay again.

My husband was there for work, and on my first night I found roaches in the bed. I know Savannah has bugs, but that’s no excuse. Then bad weather hit our area and he came home, leaving clothes and food in the room. He hadn’t checked out and still had the key, but staff put his clothes in a bag and all the food was gone: bread, ham, chips, mayo, pickles, dip, strawberries, cucumbers, Cokes and Mello Yello. I have no idea why they did that or what happened to the food. There was no respect for our belongings, and it felt like they stole from us without remorse. The room wasn’t clean either. We asked them to clean makeup near the mirror, but they never did. The tub was nasty, the area where the soap goes was black with mold, and the hot water wasn’t working. Since then, both of us have had sinus infections, and my asthma acted up all the next week. It’s sad people don’t take care of their property. We’re HGI Platinum members, and I’ll be calling customer service. I’ll never stay here again.
