Holiday Inn Express & Suites Schererville by IHG

The staff were so kind, and my room was spacious and clean. I was comfortable throughout my stay. The complimentary breakfast was really good, too, with different choices on different days.

We traveled from different states to spend Thanksgiving weekend together after many months apart, but this hotel made it hard for our family to be together. We weren’t rowdy or messy, just having fun with relatives, yet they wouldn’t let us use the common area. Staff said quiet time started at 8:00, then closed the area so we couldn’t gather there anymore. My sister was even told to leave because her five-month-old was making happy noises that were considered too loud. They made up policies as the night went on. We were told you had to be 21 to enter the pool area, even though a sign on the wall said 18. Manager Megan and Leonna were unkind and unreasonable, and wouldn’t budge when we asked to keep our families together. This is not family-friendly, and we’ll never stay here again. The pool was very cold, the door to the pool area was broken so we couldn’t get in, and there was no hot tub. The pull-out couch in our room was broken and bent the wrong way. Every other hotel we’ve gone to together has been accommodating. This one was awful. Have a heart!

We checked in Friday without any trouble. When we returned Saturday evening, bugs that looked like winged ants started coming out from behind the TV. My husband killed as many as he could. The front desk had no other rooms, but the young woman there was helpful and came up with disinfectant. She cleaned them away, though she didn’t have bug spray. She offered to look for some and leave it outside the door, but there wasn’t any. She said the owner knew about it and would speak with us the next morning. We had an early flight and were checking out, so she said she’d call. I’m still waiting. I’m very disappointed that Holiday Inn is represented this way. The employee who came to our room was kind and professional, but management’s lack of leadership was disappointing.

We’ve stayed here a lot while roadtripping, and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. The free breakfast is good, rooms are reasonably priced, and the beds are comfortable. Rooms are generally pretty clean, though the bathroom could sometimes use extra attention. There’s also a Culvers across the parking lot, which is handy when you’re stopping overnight.
