Rodeway Inn Schuylkill Haven

The room had holes in the walls, sticky floors, hair on the pillows and sheets, and used soap left in the shower. I couldn't bring myself to shower or even look at the towels, and I ended up sleeping in my clothes. This place was disgusting. If I’d known what it was like, I would never have booked it and would’ve slept in my car. It felt like a step above a crack house, just without the 💉 needles on the floor. Sure, Roadway Inn isn't a Hilton or Marriott, but this location doesn't deserve to be part of any travel group brand. Call me critical, but you can't make this stuff up.

The price was great, which is mostly why I took a chance, but I should've known better. Funny enough, I slept better there than anywhere else on our seven-night trip. We won't stay again. Getting there from the south meant driving a huge circle. Priceline had no photos of the hotel, rooms, or location, and listed no amenities. There was only a little sign on a door, no big sign out front. When we arrived around 6pm, the main entrance was locked, with a posted schedule saying it was open 7am-2pm. Our reservation had no hotel phone number. Someone, maybe a cleaning lady, came out of another door and said the manager had gone to buy vegetables. He got back about 10 minutes later, and check-in went smoothly. The room smelled, the toilet and corners weren't clean, and a square meter of carpet was loose, cut out and laid back in place. There was just one bath towel and one hand towel for two people, both left messily on a top shelf. The three staff members were friendly, though a bit odd and not very professional.

The washbasin drained onto the floor, and they’d left cleaning supplies in the room. There was no toilet paper or soap. I won't be back.

The milk plant next door smelled like sewer and vomit, especially in humid weather. Communication was hard because no one working there spoke very good English, and the TV was lousy too. The first room we got had a ceiling that started crumbling, apparently after someone upstairs flooded something and the water weight brought it down, so they moved us. Rain also came through the roof every time it rained. The phone didn't work, there was no room service, the towel rack fell off the wall, and the tub faucet came loose and fell off. They call it high speed internet, but that depended on the room, I guess. I had to leave mine and walk to the road between the two buildings just to download anything.
