Hampton Inn Houston NASA-Johnson Space Center

The room had a very musty smell, though we could have lived with that. What we couldn’t accept was being told our young children shouldn’t walk around the room because their footsteps were too noisy. We have two young autistic children, and they weren’t crying or anything, just walking. The staff member was incredibly rude, said he wasn’t interested in arguing, told us we could go elsewhere, and said to “take care of my kids.” The website says cribs are available, but they weren’t. We had requested one ahead of time when booking, and if they’d told us they had none, we would have canceled and gone somewhere else. Do not trust the good rating.

Marie handled our overbooking problem quickly and professionally when we arrived for the two queen bed room we had reserved, and I give the hotel five stars for her service. She did a very good job. Thanks, Marie! The hotel still needs a lasting fix for overbooking. Customer satisfaction should come before profitability, because good satisfaction is what can bring business in the long term.

Christine and the other front desk staff were kind and tried to help, but after switching rooms a couple of times, the strong mildew smell was still there. I couldn’t ignore it, and I don’t know if it was a health issue, like mold. It feels like a bigger problem than the staff can fix, and management seems aware since plenty of other reviews mention the smell. I usually rely on Hampton Inns for a clean, comfortable stay, so this was a letdown. Eventually we gave up and moved to another hotel. We never heard anything more from the hotel or Hilton/Hampton Inn. Best avoided.

The location worked perfectly for what I needed, and the staff were accommodating. I stayed three nights, and both the room and bed were clean, with daily cleaning. It was an excellent stay.
