American Inn

The location is amazing, and the staff were nice. That's about all I can say in its favor. We had to stay because of Beryl and there were no vacancies elsewhere. Over four nights, there was no fridge or microwave, bugs were everywhere, and the room wasn't clean enough for me to feel comfortable sleeping in the bed. They're remodeling, with old furniture left around, and loud banging started around 6 every morning. I wouldn't have stayed if we'd had another option, and I can see why this was the only place with vacancies. This was my first and last stay at an American inn. 🤢 I wasn't going to leave a review until one of the owners walked into our room this morning. As we were leaving, they gave me a mean look, as if we'd done something wrong. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

I had to stay there for over a year, and during that time there was no room service for stays longer than two nights. It was hard to get towels and sheets, there were no ice machines, and the laundry room wasn't always available. There was no coffee or breakfast, and they don't spray for bugs. The room had roaches when I arrived. I spent money baiting it every two weeks, and now that I've left, the whole place is infested with roaches. Loud music and excessive noise were never dealt with. If there was an emergency, Kathy at the front desk wouldn't let me use the office phone. I almost died crawling into the office after she told me I couldn't call the police from it. Sherry and Nelsa were the only people I knew who actually cared about anyone, and they're gone now. The owner charged different amounts to our card each month for almost two years, and we had to fix everything ourselves. There are no outside cameras running at night, so there's no security at all.

The room was hot and smelled terrible. There were little roaches all over the bathroom, which also looked unclean, and I found bed bugs when I checked the bed. I wasn't going to shower there. I called the woman at the desk right away. She apologized and said I would need to speak with the manager the next day about a refund. When I reached Nelsa the following day, she said she'd checked and there were no bed bugs. I told her there were, and that I had a photo, but she refused to refund me, saying the owner never gives refunds. I had to find somewhere else to sleep that night and dispute the charge with my bank. I'd found the motel on Priceline and arrived around 9 p.m. The woman at the desk first quoted more than the online price, then said booking online was cheaper when I asked, so I did that. The parking lot had a lot of stragglers and people who looked like they lived there, but I'd decided to give it a chance after they charged my card $70. I wish I hadn't. Never stay there. Horrible.

The room was clean and updated, and everyone was very friendly and kind. This morning I went downstairs and saw the front desk giving a heater to the maintenance man for my room. He was a really nice guy, and the woman at the desk was genuinely caring and apologetic about my family's situation. I definitely recommend this place. Thanks to everyone for accommodating us.
